    Department Of Visual Arts & Technology Cross River University Of Technology Calabar, Nigeria Fine arts and Architecture are both creative profession, much is expected therefore in the area of natural and creative output. By this, it means whatever that is done must be original, authentic and natural. Going through the drawings of many students, the use of computer aided drawings has reduced the creativity in such group of students. The problem of this paper therefore was how to ensure that freehand drawing is not replaced by the use of drawings being manipulated by the computer. The specific objective is to make freehand drawing a daily academic ritual in our institutions of learning to achieve originality and creativity. The methodology adopted for this exercise was the interactive and involvement in freehand drawing in the studio. Also, there was the close watch of students’ drawings by their lecturers to ensure authentic and creative result. It was recommended that the inclusion of freehand drawing more often than not in the lecture time table would be useful; also, frequent freehand drawing beside the normal class work should be encouraged. It is the believe of this paper that why it is good to be technologically alert, there should be a line drawn between thinking globally and acting locally. Creativity is hidden in the genuineness of work which in no doubt could be exhumed through constant freehand drawing.
