BREAKING THE CHAINS : UNVEILING THE FACTORS RESPONSIBLE FOR POVERTY
Abstract I want to make something clear: I strongly believe in the power of prayer. It is a source of solace, strength, and guidance. However, it is also important to recognize that prayer is only one part of life's complex reality. This book, "Breaking the Chains: Unveiling the Factors Behind Poverty of Christians," is a reminder that prayer is not the only answer to poverty. It looks into the various socioeconomic, cultural and systemic factors that can trap people and families in poverty. It confronts the uncomfortable truths that many try to avoid and looks for holistic solutions that can help people. I hope this book will be a guide for those who are going through similar struggles, and for anyone who wants to understand the challenges faced by Christians in poverty. It is a call to action, asking us to combine our faith with practical wisdom and action to make lasting change. This does not only apply to only christians alone but applies to anyone irrespective of race, gender, religion etc. In memory of my late father and in honor of all those who have faced similar economic or financial hardship, let this book be a beacon of insight and empowerment, showing us a path to a brighter future—one where faith and action go hand in hand. He planted the same crops his father and grandfather had - relying solely on the ways of old. When the rains came late one season, his crops wilted and died, leaving him little to sell at market. "It's God's will," he said with a shrug. Now Obadiah, he was always one to question and learn. A traveling agronomist passed through his village one day and taught him new farming methods - rotating crops, using fertilizers, digging irrigation channels. That same year when the rains were late, Obadiah's fields remained lush and green. At the market, Obadiah's materials sold for much higher prices than Jethro's meager offerings. Jethro looked on enviously. "Why does the Lord bless you so?" he asked. Obadiah simply smiled and said, "My friend, the Lord helps those who help themselves." You see, ignorance locks us into poverty like a prison. We cling to old ways, beliefs, and habits that keep us stuck. But knowledge, education, an open mind - these are liberating forces that can open up new opportunities. In our modern age, ignorance of crucial skills like reading, math, and technology shuts people out of jobs and enterprise. Ignorance of proper health practices breeds sickness, robbing families of breadwinners. Ignorance of our rights and civic duties allows others to take advantage of us. But when we embrace learning, ask questions, and seek wisdom, we free ourselves from the chains of ignorance. We can analyze problems, think critically, and find new solutions. We can adapt to change rather than being overcome by it.
