1.1 Steps To Owning A website To own a website you need to: Register a Domain Name: This is the address of your intending site on the internet which will always be www.mysitename.com. A domain name is available only if nobody has taken it. Once a Domain name is registered, it becomes unavailable no other person can register it. Registration charges are normally for one year, with an annual renewal fee as the initial registration fee. You will normally give the designer the name you want. In submitting names, make sure that the name is easily understood. You should be able to give your website address (which is the domain name) to someone over the phone. Let it be as short as possible. Avoid names similar to popular sites. Choosing such names can attract customers to the other site when they enter the wrong address. Design the web site: i.e., create the web pages. A Web Designer/Developer will do this for you. The cost of designing your website will depend on the content of the site (whether the pages are few or not) and the expertise of the designer which will eventually determine the quality
