Many years ago, I struggled to accomplish anything reasonable because of my belief which was "what will be will be". Not knowing that what will be will never be, I must make it happen or make it be. My belief then was sitting down, praying and expecting life to happen. As a result of my belief I lost opportunities that could have transformed my life positively because of unclear goals. In one of the messages of Apostles Joshua Selman, "If you do not write them down, take action, your dreams will remain realities in the invisible world." I had dreams but no action. No goal setting, no plan, nothing! Hmm. Things began to fall in place when I worked on my MIND. I realized that the greatest battles in life occur in the mind. This helped me to see life in a very positive way. Before you set your goals, you need to deal with your MIND. Why? Because "out of the abundance of the heart the man speaks". Mind is like a ground where anything grows on it. Positives and Negatives grow there. If you’re going to have any substantial success in life you need to understand that your mind needs to align with your dreams or goals. Everything in life including your goals needs a mindset of CAPACITY to achieve. Of course, I am a Christian and I believe in miracles but some things require your mind's capacity not based on your pastor's declaration. While it is good to dream big or set big goals, you must develop or upgrade your MIND to fulfill that. Your renewed and transformed mind will always see possibility instead of impossibility. So today I need you to upgrade your mind first before your goals can be achieved. How to RENEW or UPGRADE your MIND The book of Proverbs says "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it springs the issues of life". Hasn't it occurred to you why GOD emphasized on guarding our heart? In my story I shared with you, you could see how my mind and belief of "what will be will be" affected me. If you have such a belief system, it wasn't your fault. That was how we were wired. However, you can decide to keep complaining and wishing or take the bull by the horn yourself. Having said that, to have a renewed mind involves changing the way you think and your belief of "what will happen will happen" to "I must make it be". Here are a few steps you can follow to help renew your mind: (1). Identify negative thought patterns and challenge them. When you notice yourself having negative thoughts, try to know where the thought came from. When you can pinpoint the source you will be able to deal with it. (2). Practice gratitude. What I always do whenever this negative thought comes, I will immediately give thanks to God and wave the thoughts away. Most times I listen to one of my favorite gospel artiste, Minister Dunsin Oyekan. Focusing on the things you are grateful for can help shift your perspective and attitude. (3). Surround yourself with positive people. There is an adage that says "show me your friends and I will tell you who you are" Who are your friends? Are they goals oriented? From today seek out people who are supportive and uplifting, and limit your time with those who bring you down. (4). Engage in activities that help you relax and clear your mind. This could be attending seminars, reading books, and the Bible. You can also meditate, exercise, or spend time in nature. By taking these steps and being mindful of your thoughts and actions, you can work towards renewing your mind and finding greater peace and positivity in your life. Also, programme your mind to think positive thought and say positive things, your subconscious mind is always paying attention. What you're attracting into your life is a function of thoughts and beliefs. After we have dealt with the mind, what are those things you want out of life? This leads us to the second chapter.
